On April 3, 2019, members of IWIRC New England gathered to celebrate the distinguished career of the Honorable Joan N. Feeney on the eve of her retirement following her 27 years as a federal bankruptcy judge.Judge Feeney, an accomplished jurist, author and scholar, and an icon in the bankruptcy world, is a long time member of IWIRC NE.The crowd enjoyed her “fireside chat” with IWIRC NE Board Member Kate Cruickshank. The Judge reflected upon her time on the bench and shared discussed the rewards of being a judge, the attributes of an excellent lawyer, and the changes in the practice during her time on the bench.She also offered advice to young practitioners starting their careers, encouraging them to become leaders, volunteer, get involved in professional organizations, and to find a mentor and be a mentor.
