On 3 August 2013, members and friends of IWIRC HK turned a relaxing Saturday afternoon into a meaningful occasion by participating in the IWIRC HK Network Crossroads Volunteer Day.
Crossroads Foundation (“Crossroads”) is a Hong Kong based, non-profit organization serving global needs. One of the services that Crossroads offers is to take Hong Kong’s quality excess goods and redistribute them to those in need, both locally and internationally.
On a sweltering afternoon, IWIRC members and friends contributed to this Crossroads initiative by unpacking, categorizing and rearranging donated goods for later distribution to different parts of the world. Items included clothing and bedding, furniture and equipment, books and stationery, household appliances, and many more. It was very encouraging to see how generous Hong Kong is as evidenced by the piles and piles of donations! The volunteer day certainly served as a reminder to think twice before throwing away used or excess goods.
